Tips for Soon-To-Be Single and Divorced Moms

Being a single and/or divorced mom is not always easy. It is necessary to have a support system in place ahead of time whenever possible. This is the first aspect of single parenting that I would suggest working on.

Other Tips:

  • Try to stay positive. This may be difficult, but it will be very helpful.
  • Try not to bash the child’s father anywhere near the child. They hear more than you think. Try to save the male bashing for when you are not near your child at all.
  • Your financial situation will change. Pay your bills, buy what is necessary and save the rest.
  • Be prepared to take on almost all of the responsibility for the child. Actually, you may have to take on all responsibility. Do this without grudge.
  • Sit down and decide what you feel is important in the raising of your child.
  • See if it is possible to co-parent with the child’s father. A lot of the time, this is not possible. You may be lucky, though.
  • Create traditions for your family. Traditions are very important for children.
  • Realize that your life is going to be different. You will have less freedom, and you may have to work longer hours.

Those are my best tips. What are your?
