After reading this article, I have decided to list my best recession tips here for other single moms. It is my hope that you will comment on this post with your own tips. Afterall, it is our responsibility to help each other out in any way that we can.

Recession Tips:

  • Be strong, and stay positive. This can be hard, but it is necessary.
  • Find things to do as a family that do not cost money.
  • Pay the bills first. Save most of what is leftover. You may need it sooner than later.
  • Pick up a few extra hours a week at work if possible. This is not necessarily a good idea if you pay for childcare.
  • Search online for directions on fixing things around the house.
  • Figure out what you can do with these cleaners: Vinegar, baking soda and salt.
  • Have a good sense of humor.
  • Be sure that your children understand that there is little money to play with. Likely, there is no money to play with.
  • Have a good support system.
  • Make sure your children also have a good support system.
  • Cook what you can from scratch.
  • Go to your local food cupboards.
  • Learn to yard sale, clearance shop, and thrift shop.
  • The dollar stores have good buys, just be sure that what you purchase is of good quality.

There you have it. My best tips. What are yours?

Shannon
