Single Moms with ADD

I am a single mom and, though I haven’t gone for a diagnosis, I do believe that I may have adult ADD. Why? Well, I’ll tell you…

I cannot keep my mind from having a hundred thoughts at a time. Well, it seems so anyway. My mind moves so quickly from one thing to another, that it can literally tire me out half-way through the day.

I am making it a point, at this time in my life, to try to tame my mind at least somewhat. This is not an easy task.

The symptoms that I have are as follows:

  • Because my mind is always flitting from one thought to the next, I am a very unorganized person.
  • I have often felt overwhelmed because of all the projects that I have begun and never finished. For example, my half organized and de-cluttered home.
  • I am incredibly forgetful. For instance, I know that I have to call someone in five minutes, but I forget before the five minutes are up.
  • I often feel like I cannot accomplish anything.
  • I often lie awake for hours because I have so much going on in my head.

So, I am wondering if other single moms have adult ADD. What is it like for you? How do you cope?

Shannon

P.S. In another post, I will highlight the ways that I am dealing with these problems.
