Well, it has been official for a while now. We are in a recession. Of course, we all knew this long before it was official. Here are my best tips for keeping up with financial matters during a recession:
1. Call all of the utility companies that you use and ask if you can be put on a budget plan. This will not save you money, but it will even out your payments throughout the year. You will always know exactly how much you will owe each month.
2. Clip coupons, and use them only when they will really save you money.
3. Purchase only what is necessary.
4. Renting from both Netflix.com and Blockbuster.com at the same time is cheaper than cable.
5. Learn to cook from scratch.
6. If you eat out once a week, cut back to once every two weeks, then once every three weeks, then once a month.
7. Make your own cleaning supplies. This will save a lot.
8. Re-think the way you eat, and research how much a true serving is for each member of your family. Don’t rely on the labels.
And we have to ask ourselves now whether we think that there is the slightest chance that we may end up in a depression.
Yes? No?
If you do think so, then may I suggest making further cuts in spending and saving every penny that you can.
