I don’t know about you, but I love it when my community looks nice and tidy. I despise walking down the street, looking at trash that people think needs to be thrown all over the place.
Though single mother’s are very busy, there are times when we can be beautifying our communities. Why would we want to do this? Because we want better for our children.
* Bring a canvas tote bag with you whenever you walk or take your children to the playground. Pick up returnable bottles and cans while you are out and about, bringing them home (or directly to the redemption center) in your canvas bag. This not only cleans up your community, it also provides you with some extra money.
What can you do with the money? Make all of your community cleanup efforts family events, and take your children out for ice cream when you have saved enough money from collecting the returnables.
Your children can decorate a can or a jar to save the returnables money in.
* Bring a small trash bag along with you on your walks as well. Pick up trash along the way, and deposit it into a trash receptacle somewhere.
* Whenever you visit the playground or the park, clean the trash up off the ground and deposit it into the trash receptacles.
Beautifying your community can be simple. You just have to care enough to do it. By having your children help, they are learning not to litter.
What community efforts do you and your children make? Share them with us in the comments.
Thank you,
Shannon
