There are many pros and cons for a work-at-home mother, and they should be weighed heavily before choosing this situation.
Pros:
- You will have more flexibility, possibly enabling you to get some of your work done while your children are napping, in bed for the night, or at school. This will allow you to spend more time with them.
- You will save money on food, clothing, childcare and car care.
- You can keep up with housework during your breaks.
- You are there for your children more.
Cons:
- You may need to hire a mother’s helper part-time, or a part-time house keeper.
- Your children may pester you while you are trying to work.
- Your electricity and oil bills may go up because you are now home all of the time.
- People will call or drop by at inopportune times.
I’m sure that you can think of more pros and cons. Please share them with us.
As with any other situation you will have to weight the pros and the cons, deciding for yourself if this is a viable situation for your family.
