It would be difficult for a single mother with babies and/or young children to keep up with the yard work. I have decided that, when I have more children, I would like to have someone come over once a week from spring to fall to do yard work. The tasks for this time of the year would be as follows:
- Mow the lawn.
- Do any trimming.
- Pick anything from the gardens that needs picking.
- Turn the compost, and add anything to it that needs to be added.
- Once during the spring, rake and add to compost bins.
- In the fall, add gone by vegetable and fruit plants to the compost bins.
- Once during the spring, come for a day while the mother’s helper is here to help me to plant the gardens.
- Once during the autumn months, put things away in the shed for winter.
- Once in the spring, get lawn furniture out of shed, clean it up, and set it out.
During the winter the yard worker will just come to shovel the porch and paths to the road, the shed, the water meter and the oil tank. This would be done after each storm.
I know a girl in the park who mows and shovels, so I would talk to her about this job opportunity first. I also have nephews that I could ask.

P.S. To you have any experiences with hiring someone to do this kind of work for you? If so, I am really interested in hearing about them. Please post to the comments. Thank you.
