Single Mother Working: Outside the Home

I recently took on a babysitting job outside the home. For many years, I have been babysitting in my own home, but I am now actually trying to get of of that type of career. I am working at the home of the mother whom I babysit for.

I babysit, homeschool and clean. Pretty much everything I was doing here. There are definite pros and cons, I am learning, to working outside the home.

Pros:

  • My house is cleaner.
  • I get out of the house more.
  • My house is more quiet, so Zowie can study more easily.
  • I get more exercise because I walk to work and she has stairs that I have to climb.

Cons:

  • I do not get to spend as much time with my daughter and my cats.
  • I clean way too much. I don’t like to clean.
  • I feel taken advantage of more often.
  • I miss being home, where I can do things that need to be done when the twins are having down time.
  • I do not get paid enough for all of the services that I provide.
  • I have to take care of a dog.

There you have it. There is good and bad to every situation.
