Celebrate Your Friendships

This single mother likes to celebrate her friendship with the best friend in the world. Who is this friend? Her name is Missy, and I have know her since junior high. She is the only person from my school years that I still hang out with on a regular basis.

It is true that most friendships will not last forever, which is why it is important to nurture the friendships that you intend to keep.

There are many ways to celebrate the friendships that are most important to you. I once made Missy a friendship book. I scrapped the book, which had friendship quotes in it.

Here are some other ideas for celebrating our friendships:

  • Make homemade cards and send your best friend one ever month.
  • Make your friend a friendship cake, and deliver it to her at work on her lunch break.
  • Make time to talk with your friend at least a couple of times a month.
  • Support your friend when she needs it.
  • Pack a picnic lunch for your friend.
  • Make a scrapbook of the good times that you have had with your friend, and present it to her on her birthday.
  • Make her a set of ornaments for her holiday tree. She will cherish them for many years.
  • Make time to eat out with her at least a few times a year.
  • Have an old-fashioned slumber party. My daughters and I spent the night at Missy’s once so that we could watch scary movies.
  • Get together to talk. Missy and I do this at McDonalds’ once in a while.

There are many more things that you can do to celebrate your friendships. Why not post your ideas in the comments section. Thank you.
