It is important for every parent to have time alone, but it is even more important for a single parent to do so. Single mothers need to be sure to have a break once in a while. A break from work, cooking, cleaning, children, family and, yes, even friends. Sometimes we just need to have some time to ourselves.
We must be able to have the opportunity to do something good for ourselves once in a while. If not once a week, then once a month. Why? Because we have to have time to clear our minds. Time to relax. Time to just be alone.
What can a single mother do while she is spending valuable time by herself? Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Watch a movie.
- Read a good book.
- Write in a journal.
- Go for a walk.
- Go shopping.
- Go out to eat, and write a story.
- Take a hot bath.
- Take a nap.
- Scrapbook, or do something else creative.
- Sit outside and observe nature.
As you can see, there are plenty of things that we single mothers can do to help ourselves unwind once in a while. What we do will depend on who we are, and what we enjoy doing. The important thing is that we take time for ourselves.
What are the benefits of taking time for ourselves?
- We get to relax.
- We feel ready to deal with issues that come up.
- We have a better relationships with those around you, including our children, because wetook time to de-stress.
Time alone is not a privilege. It is a right. And, it is needed.
