Easy Cooking with Children

One of the best, least expensive ways of cooking that I know of is slowcooker/crockpot cooking. Why is it inexpensive?

  1. It uses very little electricity, much less than a stove/oven.
  2. You can successfully use the cheapest cuts of meat around. You do not need to use a lot of meat to make a good meal, either.

Even if you have to do all of the cutting yourself, even the youngest child will be able to just dump the food into the crock. Then you just turn it on and wait for it to cook.

Here is an easy slowcooker recipes from my kitchen:

Use it up stew

(Great for using up leftovers. Also great for gatherings.)

1. First, choose your leftovers. Any combination will do. How about:

carrots

green beans

corn

rice

peas

chicken

turkey

broccoli

broth

2. Add water until the crock is filled 2/3 of the way.

3. Cook on high 3-4 hours, or on low 4-5 hours.

4. During the last 10 to 15 minutes, you can also add dried pasta to your stew.

Hope you enjoy the recipe.
