Creating My Nephews Food Box

Well, I have a nephew who is staying with me right now. At least for a while. So I need to have an area where he can easily get to his breakfast and snack stuff.

Right now, we are living in a trailer with a very small kitchen, so I don’t really have a drawer, shelf or cupboard to give to him. I am going to let him use the bread box. We put our bred in the refrigerator anyway.

I will put one week’s worth of stuff in it at a time, and store the rest on our little pantry shelf in the other room.

Here is what will go into (and on top of) the box:

  • My nephew will make a trail mix and he can put some servings of this into the bread box.
  • While he is doing the above, I will make some crackers and peanut butter. We purchase cheap crackers for this, and cheap peanut butter. I will put these into serving size containers.
  • I will also put serving sizes of cereal (from a big cheap brand box) into containers for easy access in the morning.
  • I will put a few apples in there, and some bananas on top of the bread box.

I will also give him his own area in the refrigerator that will hold:

  • His yogurts.
  • Serving size containers of both grapes and tomatoes.
  • Serving size containers of fruit cocktail.
  • Serving sizes of drinks.

There will be enough each week to last him until Fridays, when he goes with his mom. Then we can restock when he comes home on Sundays.

We eat small meals and three or four snacks a day, and I think this will cover all of his needs for breakfast and snack each week. He chooses his own cereal and crackers, as well as trail mix ingredients.
